Vietnamese General Confers Medals to Cambodian Officers:

Hundreds of military and civil units and individuals were awarded with Friendship Medals and Certificates of Merit by Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Defense Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Van Duoc under the chairmanship of Gen. Tea Banh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense of Cambodia.

 

            The hand-over ceremony was held here yesterday in recognition for Cambodian military and civil officials’ outstanding contributions to the search and repatriation of remains of Vietnamese combatants, who have laid their lives in Cambodia during the war.

 

            In the past 10 years, Cambodian and Vietnamese joint search teams have unearthed a total of 12,162 sets of remains and repatriated them to Vietnam for reburying. They are looking for some 8,000 other sets of remains in the years to come./.(AKP)

Humanity Program “It’s Not A Dream” Kicks off:

A Humanity Program “It’s Not A Dream” co-organized by Bayon Radio and Television General Department and Metfone Telecommunication Company has kicked off.

 

            The program was announced during a press conference here on Jan. 13 under the presidency of Minister of Information H.E. Khieu Kanharith, Deputy Director General of Bayon Radio and Television Mr. Tith Thavrith, and President of Metfone Company Director Mr. Nguyen Duy Tho.

 

            The program is aimed at providing free of charge services to search for their relatives who are still missing during and after the war time as well as at the present time.

 

            H.E. Khieu Kanharith praised Metfone Company and Bayon Television for organizing these humanitarian services./.(AKP)

New visa regulation for VN, Cambodia’s citizens:

As from Jan. 1, 2010, citizens of Vietnam and Cambodia holding ordinary passports valid for at least six months will need no visa to enter or transit the other country, according to the Foreign Ministry’s Consular Department.
Those citizens of one country may stay in the other country for up to 30 days instead of 14 days, the department said.
The new visa regulation applies according to the amendment of the bilateral agreement on visa exemption, which was signed in November and took effect in December 2008./.(VNA)
